Inspiration to Reality

We decided to create a modern take on a traditional pattern to add some drama and visual interest. We always say, “the invitation sets the tone for the event.” This client not only wanted to incorporate her wedding colors into her invitation, but set the tone for the formal affair.
The invitation had a pocket on the back to hold all the details for the wedding. In the pocket we decided to have the design continue on each piece as they stacked on one another. That way all pieces interact with one another.
Word of Mouth

For those of you who follow me regularly, you have all heard me say before that “All you have is your name.” Today, more than ever, our brand is only as good as our last job, our web site, and the buzz that follows us. In a world that is so bombarded with social media, advertising, emails and hype, the actual human connection is truly all that sets us a part from one another in business. It is the look on a person’s face, the tone of their voice and the hug received following a job well done that makes it all worthwhile. It is the answers to the following questions that allow word of mouth to then be so powerful to the future success of our business.

Twitter Fun

At Amy Zaroff Events+Design, my day is filled designing wonderful invitations, stationery, signage and paper items for our clients. Recently, I was inspired by fellow designer’s Twitter pages, and I decided to custom design my own. I like to incorporate every aspect of my life in to my home, my work space, the landscape of our yard or even on my Twitter page.
Twitter has a great assortment of designs to choose from to customize your page, but isn’t being unique the best way to express yourself? It makes it easier for followers to understand your personality and style in one snap shot.
To Whom It May Concern: I am interested in a career in event planning.

When I was in college, I majored in communications and desperately wanted to be a television producer for Nightline. Ted Koppel was someone I had admired all throughout high school and when others were watching The Late Show with David Letterman, I was the one watching Nightline and waiting for the credits at the end so I could figure out who to address my cover letter to when I applied for an internship there someday.

In addition to last week’s post about the National Stationery Show in New York this year, we were really inspired by the Fashion Show contest sponsored by NYC’s Lim College. Who knew paper could look this good?
‘The Paper Runway’ featured submissions by fashion and visual merchandising students and the creativity was flowing.
The Grand Prize Winner received a $1,000 cash prize and a Fashion Week window display at Kate’s Paperie.

hungry for design

if you are spending hours upon hours designing your flowers, stationery, tabletop and lighting…..it would be a tragedy to not spend the same time and energy on styling the food for your event. of course we want it to taste good, but how it looks is sometimes even more important. this spring, we have spent a huge amount of time in food tastings (poor me, ha!). our upcoming spring and summer weddings will be fabulous from head to toe, and the food is no exception. from comfort food served artistically to gourmet food served casually, the food and its presentation will be a show-stopper in and of itself!
lately, there has been tons of press and trend in dessert styling….and rightly so. however, at most of our truly formal events, a dessert buffet is the wrong fit. dessert buffets are great for showers, luncheons, mitzvahs, casual dinners, etc. so, in thinking of a formal event and its food, which is served individually and plated, we must think of it in terms of design and as ART. i do not care if it is steak and potatoes, it better look amazing and colorful and beyond appetizing. if not, it just ruined our table scape. the room cannot just look amazing with the doors closed and our guests in the cocktail reception, it needs to stay amazing through dinner service and beyond.
